This holiday shows the amazing contrasts of the Ligurian Riviera's sea and mountain landscapes in winter. Primarily full-day, moderately paced walking tours. Explore the Ligurian Riviera's coastal hills and mountains during the winter season. Walk along and above unspoilt coastal trails and empty beaches under a warm mediterranean sun, then head off into the coastal Alps to walk through ice-covered forests and over snow covered mountains, still with the kindness of a mild mediterranean winter. You will be staying in the resort town in the picture above. from where you can follow the coastal & mountain trails using our detailed itineraries supplied.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer day, to the Ponente Riviera. After meeting you, we take you to your hotel in the seaside town pictured to the right. There will be a short briefing about your holiday itineraries and time to settle before being free to enjoy an evening meal in one of the resorts many restaurants.Arrange to arrive at the airport in the afternoon or evening. Day 2: Coastal walking through the Portofino National Park. 3 itineraries requiring from 4 to 9 hrs. Graded: BLUE, RED, BLACK. Breakfast is followed by a short walk to the railway station for the train trip along the coast to Camogli. Here we have time for a coffee by this most characteristic of fishing harbours. Our walk takes you up along coastal cliffs to Santa Rocco and along the trail above San Fruttuosa. Up over the mountain for a picnic lunch and down through the olive groves to one of Italy's most treasured jewels - Portofino. Time to stroll around Portofino and then a short bus trip along the coast to Santa Margherita.

Day 3: Winter Landscapes of the Ponente Riviera Alps. 3 itineraries requiring from 1 to 4 hrs. Graded: BLUE, RED.
We take you by 4x4 to the snow-covered peaks, high up in the Liguria's coastal Alps, where you can walk and marvel at the most incredible displays of ice, frost and snow. This is a landscape where everything becomes 'embraced' by a covering of frozen water in it's various forms - as the humid mediterranean air rises and cools dramatically on the higher slopes. Day 4: Coastal Cliffs of the 'Finalese'. 3 itineraries requiring from 3 to 9 hrs. Graded: BLUE, RED, BLACK.
This trail takes you along some of Italy's most beautiful and unspoilt coast. Ancient fortified towns, traditional fishing communities and architectural influences from north Africa, are all easily accessible from the main coastal trail. Plenty of time for taking time for lunch and a beer by the beach. Visiting Noli, Varigotti & Finale Marina along the way. View photos of the walk along the coastal cliffs of the 'Finalese'.
Day 5: Transfer day, from the Ponente Riviera. For those flying from Genoa, we take you to the airport at any time so arrange your return flights at whatever time during the day you prefer.

Ideal: For those who like to experience the stark contrasts between lush, mediterranean coast and the frosty winter wonderland of the Ligurian Alps, with a variety of self-guided walking itineraries. Holiday starts and ends in Genoa. Fly to Genoa or Pisa. Regular railway service to resort village from Pisa airport.
Stay an extra day or two and visit visit Milano, Turino, Pisa, Genova or even Monte Carlo for a day.
