Day 1: Transfer day, to the Ponente Riviera. For those flying - try to arrive at the airport before 4pm for a comfortable transfer by train to the resort town where you will be staying. For those driving, - aim to arrive anytime after lunch. View pictures of your Ponente Riviera resort hotel.
Day 2: In the footsteps of the Romans from Albenga to Laigueglia. 3 itineraries from 5 to 9 hrs. Graded: BLUE, RED, BLACK. The itinerary starts with a walk through the historic centre before leaving the town of Albenga along the ancient Roman road "Via Julia Augusta" towards Alassio marina. The more challenging BLACK route, climbs the mountains rising from the sea and treks across the high footpaths to Alassio. Moderately paced and strenuous, full day walking itineraries. Our Comment: Follow in the footsteps of Julia Augustus along this ancient roman road above the Riviera coast.

Day 3: Coastal Cliffs of the 'Finalese'. 3 itineraries from 3 to 9 hrs. Graded: BLUE, RED, BLACK. This walking itinerary takes you along some of Liguria's most beautiful and unspoilt coast. Ancient fortified towns, traditional fishing communities and villages with strong architectural influences from north Africa, are all easily accessible from the main coastal trail - Noli, Finale Ligure and Finalborgo. Plenty of time for taking time for lunch on the beach. - Moderately paced and strenuous, full day walking itineraries. Day 4: Walk through medieval hamlets along the trail from Laigueglia to Cervo. 3 itineraries from 4 to 7 hrs. Graded: BLUE, RED. This walking itinerary starts with the BLUE route around the town of Laigueglia before heading up into the hills behind the town. This provides spectacular views of the bay of Alassio. Once out of the town, your route winds it way up ancient olive terraces and short stretches along the ancient roman road. The longer routes pass through Colle Micheri, a medieval hamlet beloved of the adventurer and explorer Thor Heyedahl. From here you follow medieval tracks through pine forests as you make your way to the ruined "Castello Andora" and it's attendant churches with their spectacular views inland towards the pre-alps. - Moderately paced and strenuous, full day walking itineraries. Day 5: Transfer day, from the Ponente Riviera.

Many of the itineraries require you just put on your boots and walk straight out from the hotel, others start with a stroll to the nearby railway station (never more than a 10 minute walk from your hotel) and a short trip along the Riviera coast by train. Our itineraries take you to the areas of outstanding beauty of your choice, from where you can follow the coastal & mountain trails using our detailed route guides supplied. Ideal: For those who'd like to better explore the Ponente and Levante Riviera coastal hills, alps and towns along the way, with a variety of self-guided walking itineraries.
