TRIP DETAILS
Day 1: Transfer Day, to the Levante Riviera.
For those flying to Genoa: Bus from the airport to railway station (0h20), train to resort village (1h30), walk to hotel (0h10). For those flying to Pisa: Arrive before 4:00pm for a comfortable transfer from the airport to the resort village by train (1h20), walk to hotel (0h10). For this walking holiday, you will be staying in the resort town of Sestri Levante, next to the sandy beach at the 3 star hotel pictured to the right on the beautiful Levante Riviera. Day 2: The Montallegro and Gulf of Tigullio walk.
2 itineraries from 4 to 9 hrs. Graded: BLUE, RED. Walking itinerary to the Sanctuary of Montallegro, high above the beautiful Levante Riviera coast. Starting from the elegant resort town of Rapallo and finishing in the bustling seaside town of Chiavari. This trail takes you along alpine ridges overlooking the Gulf of Tigullio, which embraces a 'chest' of beautiful and famous resort towns - Portofino, Santa Margherita, Rapallo, Chiavari, Lavagna and Sestri Levante. Day 3: the Coastal path to Moneglia via Punta Manara.
2 itineraries from 2 to 4 hrs. Graded: BLUE, RED. Take a leisurely walk through the historic centre of Sestri Levante before starting today's trail. Choose a shorter, circular walking itinerary, taking the coastal trail to Punta Manara and back along the inland route. The longer walk takes you all the way along this rugged stretch of coast to Moneglia, passing the high and wild headland of Punt Baffa. View photos of the coastal path to Punta Manara.
Day 4: The Monte Cornua coastal mountain walk.
3 itineraries from 4 to 9 hrs. Graded: BLUE, RED, BLACK. This walking itinerary starts in Nervi and takes you high up into the coastal Alps before a long and panoramic descent to the seaside village of Sori - a charming, unspoilt place with very few foreign visitors. Today's walk to the top and back is a demanding but immensely satisfying walk taking you high into the Levante Riviera Alps, a rugged landscape very particular to this area of Liguria. A shorter trail takes you along the coastal paths of the 'Sentiero Verde Azzurro'. Allow a full day with 6 hrs of walking to enjoy the diversity of this magnificent coastal trail.

Day 5: Transfer day.
For those flying out of Pisa or Genoa airports, try and arrange flights to depart no earlier than midday to avoid an early start before breakfast.
Explore the Ligurian Riviera coastal hills and alps by foot. You will be staying in the resort town in the picture above and each day's itinerary will start and finish at your hotel. Many of the itineraries require you just put on your boots and walk straight out from the hotel, others start with a stroll to the nearby railway station (never more than a 10 minute walk from your hotel) and a short trip along the Riviera coast by train. Our itineraries take you to the areas of outstanding beauty of your choice, from where you can follow the coastal & mountain trails using our detailed route guides supplied. Ideal: For those who'd like to better explore the Levante Riviera coastal hills, alps and towns along the way, with a variety of self-guided walking itineraries.
Holiday starts and ends on the Levante Riviera. Fly to Pisa or Genoa. Convenient train connections between airports and resort villages. For those travelling by car, drive to the Levante Riviera, east of Genoa.

Stay an extra night and visit Lucca (0h25 by train from Pisa). Stay an extra night and take a day trip to Florence (1h10 by train from Pisa). If you choose to take this holiday extension, you might like to consider flying in to Nice and out of Pisa or, in to Pisa and out of Nice to give more flight options.
