Turin is a major city as well as a business and cultural centre in northern Italy, capital of the Piedmont region, located mainly on the left bank of the Po River surrounded by the Alpine arch. The population of the city of Turin is 908,000 (2004 census); its agglomeration totals about 1.7 million inhabitants, ranking fourth in Italy, while its metropolitan area has a population of 2.2 million inhabitants . It is ranked third for financial importance. It was the capital of the Duchy of Savoy from 1563, then of the Kingdom of Savoy and finally the first capital of a unified Italy. It is often referred to as "the Capital of the Alps", "Automobile Capital" and "the Subalpine Capital".

and take a train to the place you will be staying for your Short
Break. Airport transfer times are generally less than 1 hour
by train.
4. FLY-MEETU holidays: fly to the recommended airport
where we will meet you on your arrival at the nearest airport
or mainline railway station, and take you to your hotel either
by car or mini-bus.
5. FLY-DRIVE holidays: these short-breaks are typically
in places that are not served by regular public transport or
areas deserving further independent exploration under your own
steam. Therefore, we thoroughly recommend that you arrange car-hire
at your point of arrival in Italy, or use your own car if driving
down.
6. All our Short Breaks can be extended by as many days as you
wish - please ask for a quotation.
