Day trips to Milano, Genova and Pisa # see the Leaning Tower of Pisa # walk through the fashion district of Milano # Genova, city of culture 2004 # Stay on the Italian Riviera # City visit by day, mediterranean promenade by night. |
Day 1: Transfer day, to the Ponente Riviera. The ideal travel plan is to fly to Genoa and back from Pisa, taking advantage of the many flight options from London Stansted. Alternatively, for those needing to fly in and out of Pisa, take an early flight to arrive in Pisa no later than 2pm in the afternoon to allow a comfortable transfer by train to Genoa. We meet you in Genoa and take you to your hotel on the Riviera. Evening in the resort town. View photos of your elegant 3-Star hotel on the Riviera.
Day 2: Milan (Milano) City Visit. - 1st class train travel to Milan (2h30). - Independent, self-guided walking itinerary to discover the 'best' bits of Milan. - Visit the Duomo, the Castello, the fashion district around via Monte Napoleano, and the canal district of Navigli. - Return by train to your resort village on the Riviera. Full day: independent, self-guided sightseeing itinerary. Our Comment: Perhaps more famous for it's fashion houses and football teams, Milano is still a very beautiful and interesting city to explore - definately a great day out.
View photos of Milano.
Day 3: Genoa (Genova) City Visit. - Train travel to Genova (0h40). - Independent, self-guided walking itinerary to discover Genova. - Visit Piazza Ferrara, Genova's old town, the 'porto antico', and the 'Acquario di Genova', Europes largest aquarium. - Return by train to your resort village on the Riviera. Full day: independent, self-guided sightseeing itinerary. Our Comment: Genova is the epitamy of the 'beauty and the beast', a city of many facets - mountains, sea, busy port and vibrant historic centre. One of our favourites. View photos of Genoa (Genova).
Day 4: Pisa City Visit. - 1st class train transfer to Pisa (2h25). On arrival in Pisa, drop your luggage off at your 3-Star hotel in the centre of Pisa. - Independent, self-guided walking itinerary to discover Pisa. - Visit the historic centre of Pisa, climb to the top of the Leaning Tower, and admire the majestic skyline of the distant Appenines as you walk along the banks of the river Arno. - Return at leisure to your hotel to end your holiday with an overnight stay in Pisa. Full day: independent, self-guided sightseeing itinerary. Our Comment: More of a big village rather than a city, Pisa has to be one of the more pleasant and comfortable cities to walk around and enjoy. The Piazza di Duomo with it's quite unique collection of architectural masterpieces is something not to be missed. View photos of Pisa.
Day 5: Transfer day, from Pisa. Transfers to Pisa airport are quick and easy. The airport is just 10 minutes by taxi from the hotel - taxi fare costs around 10 euros (not included). Take a later flight back and give yourself more time to explore Pisa. |

Visit and explore 3 beautiful and contrasting Italian cities. You will be staying in a resort town on the Ponente Riviera and each day's itinerary will start and finish at your hotel. Walk straight out from the hotel, to the nearby railway station just 5 mins away, and take the train for your city visit. Return back to your hotel early evening to the welcoming 'calm' of the Riviera coast. Each of the city visit itineraries suggest what we consider to be the 'best bits' of the city, from which you can choose, using our independent, self-guided route guides supplied. Ideal for those who'd like a 'taste' of 3 Italian Cities in a single short break, staying by the sea, and within the structure of a variety of self-guided walking itineraries.
Extend your stay: Stay an extra night or two in Pisa and visit Lucca (0h25 by train from Pisa), and Florence (1h10 by train from Pisa).
