HOLIDAY IMPRESSIONS & DETAILS |

Day 1: Transfer day, to the Ponente Riviera.
We meet you and take you to your hotel in the resort village. Flying into Genoa: we meet you at the airport. Flying into Pisa: comfortable rail coonection to Genoa where we meet you at the main railway station. Evening in local resort village. You will be staying along the seafront in an elegant 3 star hotel.
Day 2: Canyon walking.
A leisurely start after breakfast, we drive inland for 15 minutes to the start of the Negrone gorges in the foothills of the coastal Alps. After a 30 minute walk, you will descend down into the river gorge itself where the canyon walk begins. Following the trail of the old 'engineers' path, the walk takes you from plunge pool to plunge pool until the gorge of 20 cascades - an extremely beautiful section with many small waterfalls one after another, each like a personal jacuzzi. Pic-nic lunch provided. Our Comment: Walking sandals and swimming gear recommended since this is a wet, wet walk with many pools for swimming in. Day 3: Mountain biking.
A day mountain biking in the hills under the high coastal Alps. 3 itineraries from 8 to 20kms. Starting after breakfast with an easy cycle along the coast before climbing into hills. The trail continues up along a rugged river valley and onward into the gorges of Leone. A panoramic stop at a chapel overlooking the Ligurian sea before descending back down to the coast. Pic-nic lunch on the beach followed by a ride back next to the sea. Our Comment: A very relaxed cycle ride along the Riviera dei Beigua. View photos of a day mountain biking along the Riviera coast.
Day 4: Mountain river 'tubing'
A day in the river gorges of the Ligurian Alps. Walk, swim and float along the gently flowing waters of the Val di Barbora. This is truly a mountain paradise just in from the coast - the Alps with Mediterranean temperatures in the water and under the sun. B-b-q lunch included and the afternoon free to swim some more, sun bathe or take a circular walk in the mountains overlooking the gorge. This is a most wonderful day in an idyllic, unspoilt setting. Late afternoon return back to your hotel on the coast. Our Comment: This is truly one of those idyllic days out you'll remember forever.

Day 5: Transfer day.
We meet you at your hotel. Flying from Genoa: we take you to Genoa airport for your flight home. Flying from Pisa: we take you to the main railway station in Genoa for your onward rail journey to Pisa airport. Arrange flights back from Pisa in the afternoon for a comfortable transfer. Stay an extra night in Pisa before your flight home and enjoy a day visting the Leaning Tower and historic centre of this beautiful & relaxed city.
Each day you'll be taken out to a different location for a full day exploring the coastal Alps from 3 very different perspectives - always with emphasis on fun, exploration and adventure. These mini-breaks are for those wanting to get away from the day-to-day routine for a quick ‘fix’ of adventure with 3 very invigorating activities requiring no previous experience - fun activities in the sun. These are guided activities with all equipment supplied. Ideal for families and children in their 'teens'. Holiday starts and ends in Genoa. Fly to Genoa, Pisa. Frequent railway services to Genoa from Pisa.
Extend your stay Stay an extra day or two and visit visit Milano, Genova or Pisa for a day. Please note: You should be reasonably fit and fairly used to full day physical activity. These are leisurely, fun activities requiring no previous experience, no ropes, no climbing and no specialist equipment. Anyone who is reasonably fit and wants to enjoy a strong feeling of wild, unspoilt nature in the great outdoors, can participate on this holiday. If you are looking for serious, higher risk and higher adrenaline activity breaks such as canyoning and white water rafting then this is not the tour to go on - there are plenty of more specialist activity centres in the Alps for these kind of activities.
What people thought about this holiday.
From the moment we arrived in Genova, we knew from Mike's friendly enthusiasm that we were going to have a good time. For us one of the best things about the holiday was going to some beautiful places off the beaten track, which visitors would never know about, with a real local, who was English speaking. This gave us the best of local knowledge but with ease of language.
All the activities were great fun, from swimming in river pools to exploring the area on bikes. The trusty Defender took us through valleys and hills, getting to some quite remote places. I loved the flexibility of Xtrallusion, in that we could add extra days, do different things. Our last day was spent in Pisa, enjoying this beautiful city. Mike had told us that it was like a big village, which we couldn't understand until we got there, and it really was.
We have all had such a fantastic time and I cannot imagine there being another company which could have allowed us such a relaxed, friendly, flexible, but well organised holiday.

Post Script: Everything went great in Pisa. I didn't like having hundreds of tourists around though after the other Italy that we had been experiencing earlier in Liguria. Hotel was really good. We really weren't expecting the quality of hotels you booked for the price. Don't know how you do it !! It is quite warm here so didn't feel too bad when we got off the plane. Nice to be home in some ways, but wanted to see so much more of your area, which is stunning.
Thank you again so much for really making our holiday special. I am so glad that I stumbled on your web site. I wish you every success with the business, as long as you don't expand so much that you lose that infectious enthusiasm and personal touch. The extra things that you put in such as the off road experience and the long way home so we could see more of the area, were appreciated (despite the sickness !). We all felt you were our friend, not a holiday company. Thanks.
